Boeing Co. and the family of the company’s founder William Boeing Jr. have donated a combined $30 million in investments for STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education to the Museum of Flight, Tukwila Reporter reported Friday.
Dean Radford writes the donation is meant to aid in the museum’s goal to expand the number of students served over the coming years and helping them land a job.
“It will allow the Museum of Flight to significantly expand STEM opportunities from kindergarten through college,†said Ray Conner, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
“The number of students will double by 2017 – and double again by 2019,” Conner added.
Conner announced the donation at the museum’s T.A. Wilson Great Gallery, according to the report.
