The General Services Administration has awarded two pairs of contractors and small business partners for their work and performance under the agency’s mentor-protege program over the past year.
Jeff Woodworth writes in a GSA blog post Monday that Science Applications International Corp. and Knight Point Systems received the Mentor of the Year award, while their respective partners Penobscot Bay Media and Defense Point Security received the Protege of the Year award.
GSA presented the awards at a May 13 ceremony in Washington.
“The [program] is more than just dollars and contracts, but creating long-term solutions that ultimately provide jobs in our economy,” said Jerome Fletcher, associate administrator of GSA’s Office of Small Business Utilization.
Added Deborah Eble, mentor-protege program manager, “The program is a win-win for both mentor and protege and a great way for small businesses to not only enter the federal marketplace, but to establish the necessary infrastructure to eventually compete as prime contractors and grow a stable business.”
