Dr. Viet Nguyen, chief medical information officer of Systems Made Simple, has joined the firm’s board of directors to guide the company in making decisions about healthcare technology.
As Systems Made Simple CMIO, he supports the company’s health IT product development work and helps clients implement standardized clinical terminology, the company said Tuesday.
“Our shareholders recognize the importance of having the influence of a seasoned clinician who is also a board-certified clinical informaticist,†said Al Nardslico, chairman and president of Systems Made Simple.
Nguyen worked with the Departments of Veterans Affairs between 2003 and 2013 to develop and maintain the SNOMED-CT, LOINC and NDF-RT medical terminology resources.
He received hands-on training at the Salt Lake City Veterans Administration Medical Center and at the University of Utah’s biomedical informatics department.
