Terri Spoonhour: Alion Picks Up Spot on Potential $4B WMD Countermeasures Vehicle

Alion Science and Technology has been awarded a position on a potential 10-year, $4 billion contract to help the Defense Threat Reduction Agency research and develop technologies for countering weapons of mass destruction.

DTRA selected Alion as one of seven contractors that will compete for task orders to perform anti-WMD  software and hardware systems R&D, testing and evaluation, the company said Jan. 31.

“This contract will allow Alion to expand on our previous 10 years of support to DTRA in nuclear detection, modeling and simulation, exercise support and systems analysis,” said Terri Spoonhour, senior vice president and group manager at Alion.

“We have assembled a team that includes small businesses, large businesses, not-for-profit research companies and universities – each demonstrating proven capability to support and advance the CWMD mission over a range of critical functional areas,” Spoonhour added.

The contract has a five-year base performance period and five option years.
