Northrop Grumman ended a 12-week engineering competition Friday by picking one team from six Los Angeles-area high schools that worked together to solve an engineering problem.
A panel of judges for the 2014 Northrop Grumman High School Innovation Challenge picked Lennox Math, Science and Technology Academy for the competition, the company announced Monday.
Hawthorne Math and Science Academy and Da Vinci Science School came in at second and third place, while the Palos Verdes Peninsula High School won the spirit award.
During the competition, Northrop employees mentored the students and focused on building a renewable-energy-powered model vehicle designed to carry a payload over a set distance.
