Report: Army Expects Oshkosh to Deliver New Medium Tactical Vehicles by 2021 - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe U.S. Army expects its future Oshkosh-built medium tactical vehicles to complete development by the second quarter of 2021, National Defense reported Wednesday.

Alvin Bing, product director of the Army’s medium tactical vehicles program, told the publication that Oshkosh will initially produce 41 copies of the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles A2 variant and four trailers for tests and logistics development.

Oshkosh’s defense business secured a potential $476 million contract in February to manufacture FMTV A2 vehicles over a seven-year ordering period.

Bing added that the FMTV A2s are slated to undergo tests from fiscal year 2019 to FY 2020.

He noted that the trucks are designed to feature optimized mobility, ride quality, reliability, underbody protection, chassis, data bus and engine power, among other upgrades.

Bing said Oshkosh will also provide vehicle kits, updates to the government-owned FMTV technical data package and technical, fielding and support services.
