Report: Boeing Shows Interest in Canada’s Fighter Jet Competition - top government contractors - best government contracting eventBoeing has expressed interest to participate in a competition to produce 88 new fighter planes for Canada, Reuters reported Friday.

The Canadian government set a Feb. 9 deadline for companies to show their interest to take part in the procurement effort that could be worth between approximately $12 billion and $15 billion and plans to issue the aircraft specifications in 2019, according to sources.

Boeing’s move came a year after the Chicago, Illinois-based aircraft maker filed a complaint with a U.S. trade commission against Canada-based aerospace firm Bombardier.

Lockheed Martin, Airbus and Dassault Aviation are expected to submit bids for the fighter jet program, sources told Reuters.
