The Australian defense ministry has awarded a $79.8 million contract to NIOA for the delivery of the 155 millimeter Lightweight Towed Howitzer ammunition to the country’s army.
The contract is expected to generate up to 22 new jobs, including 12 jobs for the effort’s first two years, and possibly additional 10 for domestic assembly given favorable business circumstances, the Australian ministry of defense said Wednesday.
The award follows a previous five-year contract given to NIOA in November 2017 for the delivery of 30 different munitions to the country’s military, Australian Defense Minister Christopher Pyne noted.
Additionally, the company seeks to manufacture other 155 millimeter ammunition types domestically.
NIOA is an Australian provider of weapons and technical support services with military, government and commercial applications.
