Amazon Web Services has supported the cloud migration effort of a U.S. Navy unit that aids the physical, emotional and social development of sailors and their families.
AWS said Wednesday the Commander of the Navy Installations Command’s Fleet and Family Readiness Programs division (N9) adopted an unclassified cloud environment hosted on AWS’ GovCloud isolated cloud region for government clients.
The CNIC N9 GovCloud environment is designed to optimize the delivery of morale, welfare and recreation services to Navy service members.
The hosting environment currently works to operate 74 regional websites, 14 e-commerce sites, seven event marketing sites, 10 content management systems and seven CNIC N9 headquarters websites, as well as deliver an average of approximately six terabytes of data per month.
AWS’ partner company Raven Solutions led CNIC N9’s migration to GovCloud from multiple informal and regionally-managed websites and blogs.
Raven Solutions CEO Ryan Pratt said that the company worked to consolidate N9’s information technology resources and standardize management, operational and security controls.
