Northrop Grumman has secured a contract to provide sustainment, engineering and logistics services for the Australian air force’s fleet of C-27J Spartan battlefield airlifters.
The C-27J through-life support contract has a five-year base period and a “rolling wave” clause to extend the contract period for up to 22 years based on contractor performance, Northrop said Wednesday.
John Parker, vice president and general manager of Northrop’s technology services business, said the company also seeks to provide analytical services for the Australian C-27J platform and implement a strategy to anticipate potential fleet upgrades.
Leonardo, the C-27J aircraft’s manufacturer, will support Northrop in efforts to address data access risks as well as manage engineering design process and supply chain under the program.
Northrop added the program aligns with the company’s talent and technology development objectives that support Australian defense industry.
