A business unit of BAE Systems has secured a $22.4 million contract modification to support post-shakedown availabilities for two of the U.S. Navy‘s Freedom-class littoral combat ships.
The Defense Department said Monday BAE’s ship repair business in Jacksonville, Florida, will provide manpower, material, non-standard equipment, technical data, documentation and support services needed to carry out USS Little Rock and USS Sioux City PSA efforts.
The company will also help correct government-responsible trial card deficiencies, incorporate engineering changes excluded from the construction phase of both LCS units and perform additional tasks identified between custody transfer and the time of PSA, DoD added.
The Navy obligated $14.6 million in funds at the time of award and the Pentagon expects the company to finish work in February 2019.
