Rockwell Collins‘ Australian subsidiary has received a potential $31 million contract to produce eight simulators for a computer-based technology platform designed to help Australian military personnel respond to adversarial targets.
Christopher Pyne, Australian minister for defense industry, said in a statement published Wednesday the company will also help operate and maintain the Digital Terminal Control System simulators under the contract.
DTCS simulators will be built to train soldiers to coordinate firing activities from artillery, mortars, helicopters, naval ships and fighter aircraft.
Rockwell Collins Australia will also help the country’s defense department to install the simulators at various military bases located in Brisbane, Darwin, Perth, Puckapunyal, Sydney, Townsville and Williamtown.
The department ordered three interim DTCS units from the company and expects to receive the simulators between May and December next year.
