The Department of Homeland Security‘ science and technology directorate has awarded $8.6 million in contracts to five research and development projects that aim to help increase the security of mobile applications for the federal government.
Recipients of the grants are Apcerto, Lookout, United Technologies Corp.‘s research center, Qualcomm and a Red Hat–Kryptowire team, DHS said Wednesday.
The projects fall under DHS S&T’s Mobile Security R&D program that seeks to continuously validate, protect and integrate security features throughout the mobile application’s life cycle.
DHS also works to develop integrated models and a framework to guide the development of secure applications for potential use by government agencies and enterprise organizations.
