The Department of Homeland Security has issued a request for information on U.S. companies, government agencies, universities or nonprofit organizations that can support transfer and commercialization of DHS-funded technology platforms.
DHS said Wednesday in a FedBizOpps notice that its science and technology directorate seeks assistance to facilitate the department’s Technology Transfer and Commercialization Program.
T2C aims to help S&T’s staff and contractors mitigate risks related to technology transfer and commercialization.
Responses to the sources sought notice should describe the decision-making process required to progress from research to market; previous technology commercialization efforts that can be applied to DHS mission areas; and experience in research and development partnership with federal agencies and technology partners, among others.
A chosen DHS partner will provide management and guidance on technology transfer and commercialization options for programs, products and technologies; facilitate training and education on commercialization best practices; and identify relevant laws, regulations and policies.
The partnership will also identify opportunities for technology commercialization from DHS S&T’s portfolio; conduct or validate market analyses to determine a technology’s commercial potential; and recommend metrics to evaluate the success of technology transfer and commercialization efforts.
Interested parties can respond to the notice until May 2.
