The State Department has approved a potential $25 million foreign military sale of AN/SPS-77 Sea Giraffe three-dimensional air search radars and related equipment to the Philippines.
Saab and VSE will serve as the principal contractors for the sale that covers two AN/SPS-77 radars and installation, operator training, system operational testing and documentation support services, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Wednesday.
AN/SPS-77 radars are designed to detect and track air contacts and will be installed on two Hamilton-class cutters the Philippines acquired via the Defense Department‘s Excess Defense Articles program.
DSCA said the Philippines will use the radars to increase the country’s inventory of maritime domain awareness systems in an effort to monitor territorial seas and exclusive economic zones.
