Airbus‘ helicopters business has received a purchase order for three H215 multi-role rotorcraft from the German federal police through Germany’s federal ministry of interior.
The company will deliver the helicopters in early 2019 and the German federal police will use the aircraft to perform maritime emergency and police missions, Airbus said Wednesday.
The twin-engine rotorcraft is part of the Super Puma family of aircraft built for various missions such as law enforcement, medical evacuation, search and rescue, and humanitarian operations.
Wolfgang Schoder, CEO of Airbus Helicopters Germany, said the H215 will work to fulfill the requirements of the German federal police.
The German federal police currently use 19 Super Puma helicopters, Airbus noted.
