BAE Systems has signed a contract to extend the company’s combat systems integration services for the U.K. Royal Navy’s in-service and future platforms for an additional 10.5 years.
BAE said Monday its engineering team will work to integrate the Royal Naval ships such as Type 45 destroyers, Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers and Type 26 global combat ships.
The contract extension follows the first phase of integration project awarded to the company in March 2012 under the U.K.’s Naval Combat Systems Integration Support Services program.
Richard Williams, BAE director of combat systems, said the company aims to help the British military maintain surface ships over the next decade.
BAE will collaborate with QinetiQ and the U.K.’s defense and equipment support agency on the project set to occur at BAE’s Maritime Integration Support Center facility in Portsmouth, England.
