Charles River AnalyticsThe Missile Defense Agency has awarded Charles River Analytics a potential two-year, $1 million follow-on contract to update the sensor fusion systems on MDA’s ballistic missile defense platforms.

Brian Ruttenberg, a senior scientist at Charles River Analytics, said in a statement released Monday the company will work to assess at the architectural level the “impact of uncertainty” on sensor fusion platforms through the firm’s Adaptive Management and Mitigation of Uncertainty in Fusion initiative.

The company will use an open-sourced programming language called Figaro to develop a probabilistic model of the fusion process.

Ruttenberg noted the company expects its AMMUF effort to help system engineers determine the optimal fusion system configuration that will work to provide missile threat information to combat operators.

Charles River also has performed development work on the Simulation Optimization Engine, Sensor Network Optimization using Multi-Agent Negotiation and behavior modeling platforms through the Modeling Operator Reasoning and Performance for Human-in-Control Simulation effort under MDA contracts.
