BlackBerryBlackBerry‘s AtHoc division has updated its crisis management platform in an effort to address market trends.

BlackBerry said Monday the updates include an option to create rules for forwarding alerts received from external organizations and sources, automated staff mustering, management alerting and severity-codified notifications.

“Critical events are inherently complex, and our customers have been asking for faster and more efficient ways to manage their crisis communications,” said Joseph Ng, AtHoc marketing and strategy senior director.

He added customers are demanding tools to customize workflows in order to  analyze the nature of threats and escalate alerts to support business continuity and resilience.

BlackBerry said that the new features helps give customers additional pre-planning resources and automated crisis communication activities processing to help address manual intervention and on-the-spot decision making when handling incidents.

The company also sought to help staff members prepare for more emergency scenarios and respond to crises with the support of fully-automated business rules, outreach and response systems.
