Concurrent Technologies Corporation‘s contract with the Office of Naval Research to develop a virtual, avatar-based, pre-deployment training program for the U.S. Marine Corps has reached $1.1 million in value with the award of an additional $200,000.
CTC will provide its Virtual Human Terrain Scenario Training program, which is designed to generate virtual avatars as role players in a live training environment and interpret human and activity-based intelligence to deliver human domain awareness, the company said Thursday.
The company added that the program’s goal is to replace human enemy and civilian role players during training sessions.
“Marines require pre-deployment training in areas including urban patrolling, tactical questioning, tank and infantry integration and other skills necessary for operations,” said Ed Sheehan Jr., CTC president and CEO.
Sheehan said he believes the use of modern gaming technology can help facilitate training efficiency.
Kamal Gella, CTC program manager, added that VHTST works to support live training sessions for Marines.
