Lockheed Martin has received a potential $79 million contract modification to produce Technical Insertion 14 baseline for the U.S. Navy’s underwater combat systems for fiscal 2016.
The fixed-price-incentive-firm modification for the AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 Undersea Warfare System covers a part of a foreign military sales agreement with Japan and was awarded through a competitive procurement process, the Defense Department said Wednesday.
AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 UWS is designed to detect, search and classify mine-like small objects, submarines, torpedoes and other underwater threats.
Work will occur in Pennsylvania, New York and Florida through May 2018, according to DoD.
The Naval Sea Systems Command will obligate the full contract amount from the service branch’s “other” procurement funds for fiscal 2015 and 2016.
