Root9B and the Department of Homeland Security have forged a cooperative research and development agreement to explore tools for the department to manage U.S.’ network defense posture as part of cybersecurity efforts.
The company said Monday it will help DHS develop indicators to detect critical system vulnerabilities and develop strategies to mitigate cyber intrusions.
Eric Hipkins, CEO of root9B, noted the CRADA offers an opportunity for the company to deliver threat management technology and training services.
DHS and root9B also agreed to develop a public-private partnership framework as well as share threat prevention, detection and mitigation ideas when they conduct quarterly meetings.
Root9B said it has provided security training and certification services to U.S. military agencies and has worked with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency on multiple R&D programs.
