A General Dynamics joint venture will update and evaluate Rescue 21 Alaska communications equipment and physical infrastructure under a $10 million U.S. Coast Guard contract for Phase 2 of the program, GSN reported Tuesday.
The report said General Dynamics One Source will assess the existing communications facilities and develop an implementation plan for the update across 30 locations along Alaska’s coastline and the Aleutian Islands.
Bill Weiss, head of public safety initiatives at General Dynamics Mission Systems, noted that the plan works to facilitate the Rescue 21 Alaska system’s long-term effectiveness.
GSN added that the General Dynamics team will also conduct site surveys, structural analysis and operational verification tests as well as provide installation plans and engineering site designs as part of the contract.
The company’s information technology and mission systems businesses compose the General Dynamics One Source joint venture.
