Intelsat has launched its latest satellite aboard an Ariane 5 rocket to provide C- and Ku-band connectivity for direct-to-home, cable programming and broadband services.
The company said Thursday the Intelsat 34 satellite will serve as the replacement to the Intelsat 805 and Galaxy 11 satellites in the company’s video distribution network for Latin America.
California-based commercial satellite manufacturer SSL built Intelsat 34.
“[We] look forward to our next two launches, which are scheduled for the first quarter of 2016, including the first of our Intelsat EpicNG satellites, Intelsat 29e,” said Stephen Spengler, CEO of Intelsat.
