Battelle to Help DoD Investigators ID Genetic Makeup of Individuals; Rich Guerrieri Comments

The U.S. Defense Forensic Science Center has selected Battelle to aid investigators in work to determine the genetic makeup of persons of interest.

Investigators will use Battelle’s ExactID genomics software to identify the traits of an individual from an unmatched DNA sample, Battelle said Wednesday.

“DNA has long been considered as objective evidence and ExactID greatly improves our ability to use DNA as an investigative tool,” said Rich Guerrieri, research leader for Battelle’s Applied Genomics business unit.

“It narrows the net and makes an investigation more objective and reliable,” Guerrieri added.
