cyber hack network computerU.S. Cyber Command plans to acquire tools from cyber arms vendor Endgame for the military military to test security and find vulnerabilities in the “dot-mil” network domain, Nextgov reported Thursday.

Aliya Sternstein writes Endgame offers software products designed to exploit bugs in a network.

The U.S. Air Force has issued a proposed contract action for potential purchases Tuesday and will manage the future contract, the report said.

1st Lt. Samantha Degnan, a spokesperson for the Air Force, told Nextgov Cybercom’s purchases will not include offensive cyber tools.

“The tools being provided are strictly defensive in nature and allow us to assess the vulnerabilities within our own networks to improve our defenses,” she said.
