Robert Nag, center leader at the University of Montreal Healthcare Training Center, has highlighted a number of practices that he says could aid in healthcare simulation programs.
Nag, a former visual database engineer at CAE, said in an interview published Sunday that educators need to establish fundamentals such as personnel scheduling, simulation logistics management and equipment preparation in order to help facilitate training.
He also stressed the importance of courseware, self-study, advanced preparation and debriefing as crucial steps in training.
“For sure, we’re transposing the art of briefing and debriefing; that’s something we do very well in aviation,†Nag said.
Nag added crew resource management training and feedback measurement to his list of best practices in healthcare simulation initiatives.
