General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems will supply the U.S. Army with 120-millimeter M829A4 cartridge ammunition under a $706 million firm-fixed-price contract. The service branch will determine the contract’s work sites and funding with each order, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
Work on the contract is expected to be completed by June 12, 2029. The Army Contracting Command in Newark, New Jersey, is the contracting activity.

Other Army Ammo Contracts
The General Dynamics business unit earlier booked a $727.8 million Army contract for the production and delivery of 120 mm Insensitive Munition High Explosive with Tracer tank ammunition cartridges. Work on the contract is expected to be completed by April 26, 2030.
In addition, GD-OTS secured in April 2024 a spot on a potential five-year, $3.05 billion contract to provide the Army with medium caliber training cartridges on a per-order basis, with work completion expected by April 4, 2029.
US-Canada Manufacturing Facilities
In October 2024, GD-OTS and the Army’s Joint Program Executive Office for Armaments and Ammunition opened a new factory in Marion, Illinois, for the manufacture of M119A2 propelling charges for 155mm Howitzer platforms. The company operates from more than 27 locations across the United States and Canada.
The GD-OTS Canada operation is programmed for investment and technology support under an Army agreement with the Canadian Commercial Corporation signed in March 2024. Under the undefinitized contract between the two parties, GD-OTS Canada will work with the Army to boost production of 155 mm artillery ammo.
