Concurrent Technologies Corp. has secured a contract modification to advance its direct current microgrid technology development work at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The company said Friday the new $3.5 million contract award raises the total value of the original contract to $8.5 million. In 2023, CTC was awarded $4.8 million to develop a DC microgrid aimed at minimizing the base’s dependence on DC-to-alternating current inverters.
New Scope of Work
The expanded effort will integrate multiple DC microgrids under one control system and increase power generation and storage. This setup improves efficiency and reliability by cutting dependence on DC/AC inverters.
CTC will also implement a demonstration plan to document technical performance and cost savings, providing a foundation for broader adoption beyond Kirtland AFB.
CTC CEO’s Remarks
Edward J. Sheehan, Jr., president and CEO of CTC, commented, “We are proud to continue supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory in enhancing the Air Force’s energy posture.”
He added the “contract modification underscores CTC’s ongoing technology development and its role in advancing broader technology solutions.”
