Tricentis SVP Recommends Blending Tech Talent With AI, Automation to Enhance Digital Services - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The future of resilient government IT relies on blending skilled teams with better tools, including automation and artificial intelligence-powered platforms, said Ben Baldi, senior vice president of global public sector at Tricentis, in an opinion piece published on Route Fifty.

Baldi made the remark following the state governments’ move to recruit laid-off federal employees to fill long-standing IT-related job vacancies with seasoned talent. According to the executive, staffing alone is not enough to address the challenges in enhancing digital services, noting that the public sector IT teams are still using legacy systems and facing increasing cybersecurity risks and tight budgets.

Smart Tools Speed Up Software Testing

Baldi said smart hires must be paired with smart tools, especially for tasks like software testing, to allow skilled IT professionals to focus more on improving services and enable small teams to scale at speed.

He mentioned North Carolina’s IT approach to highlight the benefits of blending people and platforms. The state’s Department of Health and Human Services automated nearly 3,000 software tests to support the NC FAST portal, designed to simplify access to benefits like Medicaid, food stamps and child welfare. With automation, the agency’s IT team cut regression testing time by 30 percent and reclaimed over 40 hours per release.

Empowering skilled teams with platforms that help them move faster, work smarter and deliver services state residents can trust is key to meeting the growing demand for public sector digital services, Baldi said.
