L3Harris Technologies has collaborated with Kuiper Government Solutions, an Amazon subsidiary, to provide integrated, resilient satellite communications, or SATCOM, services to governments and militaries across the globe.
Enhancing SATCOM Capabilities
L3Harris said Monday the strategic partnership aims to develop and deliver hybrid SATCOM enhanced with high-speed and low-latency global connectivity. It will integrate its global tactical networks and communication systems with Kuiper’s global satellite network.
L3Harris offers SATCOM capabilities to the Department of Defense and other clients. KGS is the government-focused arm of Amazon’s Project Kuiper, an initiative to enhance global broadband access by deploying over 3,000 satellites in low Earth orbit.
“The synergies of our new partnership will deliver out-of-the-box interoperability and specialized systems for military, public safety and commercial applications, providing customers more flexibility in their communication networks than ever before,” said Sam Mehta, president of communication systems at L3Harris. “This partnership is crucial for providing extended, enhanced capabilities not available today and reinforces our mutual commitment to deliver resilient, secure and trusted solutions to our customers.”
“We are pleased to be working with L3Harris,” said Rick Freeman, president of KGS. “Our collaboration in satellite communications and defense technology will provide customers with global communications capabilities, higher resiliency and improved security.”
