RTX business, Raytheon, has secured a $92 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract from the U.S. Air Force to upgrade processors for the Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile program.

The upgrades will support the integration of the Air Intercept Missile-120C-8 and AIM-120D-3 variants, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.

The Air Force Lifecycle Management Center awarded the contract using foreign military sales funds. The presolicitation notice for the contract was published on SAM.gov in July 2023.

Raytheon will work in Tucson, Arizona, with completion expected by August 6, 2027.

Previous Activities

In April 2023, the Air Force completed a functional configuration audit for the AIM-120D-3, which features 15 upgraded circuit cards and runs the latest System Improvement Program-3F software.

In June 2023, RTX received a $1.2 billion contract to supply AIM-120D-3 and AIM-120C-8 missiles to U.S. and international defense customers.

In September 2023, the Air Force and Raytheon conducted the first flight test of the AIM-120C-8, following an earlier AIM-120D-3 flight testing.
