Mach Industries has unveiled a new division dedicated to developing and producing advanced propulsion systems.

The advanced defense manufacturing company said Thursday the Mach Propulsion division is intended to strengthen national security through the development of advanced unmanned aerial vehicles.

New Facility

Mach Industries will build a new jet engine facility as part of the company’s expansion efforts. The Mach Propulsion facility, set to break ground later this year, is meant to enhance the nation’s supply chain for vital subcomponents for UAVs and other defense innovations.

The new plant will leverage streamlined prototyping and offer a vertically integrated and scalable approach to building high-performance jet engines with the goal of producing around 12,000 engines each year. Aside from enhanced production, the planned facility is expected to boost the advancement of future propulsion technologies for both Mach Industries and other manufacturers.

Mach Industries is collaborating with JetCat to manufacture propulsion systems for its Army Application Lab’s Strategic Strike contract while Mach Propulsion will focus on durable and reusable higher-trust engines.

New Mach Propulsion Head

Jeremy Klyde, former director of propulsion engineering at Mach Industries, will be the general manager of the new Mach Propulsion division, which is expected to have over 30 engineers. The new division head brings a vast knowledge in advanced propulsion systems having extensive experience in microturbine engine design and manufacturing. He previously served as a system architect and project engineer at Volvo and Lockheed Martin.

Mach Industries CEO and Founder Ethan Thornton said, “The creation of this factory represents a major leap forward in our readiness for scale conflict. Current micro-jet engine facilities are already operating at full capacity, even during peacetime.”
