FedPoint, a federal benefits service company, has been inducted as a new member of the Military Spouse Employment Partnership Program that the Department of Defense oversees to help in job placement and career development of military spouses.
Kevin Hill, FedPoint CEO, noted that the company’s benefits administration services already draws strength from some of its employees who are military spouses.
Helping Hurdle Employment Barriers
“Joining MSEP puts FedPoint in a position to help military spouses pursue impactful careers in the private sector while benefiting from the skills they bring to the workplace,” said the company head. He added that FedPoint will continue its contribution as an employer of military spouses who often encounter employment barriers due to service members’ changing schedules and location deployments.
Established in 2011, MSEP seeks to connect military spouses with potential employers. The program’s membership now includes over 850 employers and nonprofits who had reported employing more than 340,000 military spouses. Partners in the program, like FedPoint, gain priority access to military spouses enrolled in MSEP.
Award-Winning Veterans’ Employer
Based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, FedPoint is a wholly owned subsidiary of John Hancock Life & Health Insurance. It operates as a third-party service provider offering digital benefits marketplaces to federal and military customers, including spouses of active-duty service members.
Close to 10 percent of the company’s employees is either a military spouse or a veteran. With its veterans hiring, FedPoint has been presented with the Department of Labor’s HIRE Vets Medallion Award.
The services that the company offers include facilitating open season enrollment to the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program, as administrator and marketplace operator of BENEFEDS.gov
