Army Opens Submissions for AI/ML-Powered Military Logistics Prototypes - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The U.S. Army’s Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office is soliciting proposals for prototypes for artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to address capability gaps within the service’s current logistics systems. The effort supports RCCTO’s Human Machine Integrated Formations initiative, according to a request for prototype proposals posted on SAM.gov.

Army Seeking Logistics AI/ML

RCCTO collaborated with stakeholders and the Contested Logistics Cross Functional Team, which is in charge of sustaining warfighters in real time, to identify areas where technology could be implemented for improved logistics.

Army officials are seeking intelligent tools that can:

  • Improve fuel distribution by increasing visibility into operational and tactical distribution needs across the entire force, ensuring units receive supply before the line of departure. The required software must also be able to manage Class III products such as petroleum, oil and lubricants and recommend most efficient distribution techniques.
  • Proposed AI/ML systems must also improve mobility and operational readiness of Brigade Combat Teams and command posts by ensuring that Class III and Class V supplies arrive to troops on time. Class V supplies include all types of ammunition and explosives.
  • The service is also looking into predictive maintenance and real-time monitoring of combat platforms.

Contract Details

The project is open exclusively to American companies authorized to handle controlled unclassified information.

The Army will award one or more other transaction agreements for prototype for the required capabilities. The anticipated period of performance is 20 months, with work to be completed within and outside the continental United States.

Prototype proposals are due on March 26.
