Viasat has announced that the Department of Defense has recertified the Viasat Radio Frequency Generator-1000 under the AIMS program. The environment generator for testing identification friend or foe systems was first certified in 2017, but it has added new capabilities over the years, the global communications company said.
The VRG-1000 creates realistic, high-density signal environments, allowing IFF system developers to validate the performance of their technologies in a laboratory. It works to support up to 400 targets on a single system, and over 2000 targets with multiple systems.
“With the increasing complexity of the RF signal environment, the need for more advanced, realistic testing capabilities has never been more important as older IFF testing capabilities can no longer support new AIMS certification requirements,” said David Schmolke, vice president of mission connections and cybersecurity at Viasat Government.
