Travis Knutson has been promoted to senior vice president of operations at the combined Eutelsat America Corp. and OneWeb Technologies organization.
In his new role, Knutson will promote operational excellence in the organization and ensure that customers will receive advanced communication solutions, EAC and OWT said.
In a statement, the new SVP said EAC and OWT will use low Earth orbit and geostationary satellite solutions to support critical operations, guaranteeing that “customers can maintain connectivity wherever and whenever it is needed.”
Multi-orbit satellite systems will ensure that remote oil rigs, vessels and other off-grid locations have ready access to resilient communication networks, Knutson stressed.
The retired U.S. Air Force officer initially joined OWT in 2016 and previously served as general manager at Spectrum Engineering, according to his LinkedIn account.
He was also a program director at TeleCommunication Systems and held several leadership positions while on active military duty, including as superintendent of the 726 Air Control Squadron and senior IT manager at the Special Operations Command.
Knutson earned his master’s degree in organizational leadership from Grand Canyon University and bachelor’s degree in business administration from Campbell University.
Commenting on the appointment, EAC and OWT Chief Operating Officer Ian Canning said the new SVP will leverage his extensive leadership experience for “a unique perspective on the critical importance of robust, reliable communications in complex, mission-critical environments.”
