Darkhive, a developer of uncrewed aircraft systems featuring a secure software delivery system, announced closing its Series A investment round and raising $21 million. Ten Eleven Ventures led the funding group, which included Crosslink Capital, RTX Ventures, and Stellar Ventures, Darkhive said Tuesday.
John Goodson, co-founder and CEO of Darkhive, said, “The US and our allies around the world require secure, adaptive, and cost-effective autonomous drones to enable unified, rapid response to global security threats.”
Goodson notes that users in the field are at an extreme disadvantage due to the hurdles in the current UAS environment. He added that Darkhive owes it to the men and women on the front line to provide a complete solution that can be used by anyone in the field.
Darkhive’s lightweight, short- and mid-range reconnaissance drones are backed by a proprietary software continuous delivery platform. The software platform builds, scans, tests and securely deploys Department of Defense-accredited software to UAS. It includes secure updates for comprehensive fleet and device management in the field.
“Ten Eleven’s investment in Darkhive is part of our commitment to cybersecurity-focused companies supporting national security initiatives,” said Mark Hatfield, founder and general partner at Ten Eleven Ventures.
Darkhive will use the fresh funds for product portfolio development and expansion of resources to support DOD contracts and pursue new business opportunities. The investment will also enable the distribution of a life-saving ecosystem to more teams in the field, along with the necessary equipment for their crews.
