Jason Adolf, vice president of global public sector vertical at Appian, said federal agencies that seek to accelerate their modernization efforts should establish a center of excellence focused on advancing the adoption of low-code platforms, which could enable non-technical personnel to develop and refine applications.
“CoEs enable a common approach to widespread modernization, allowing agencies to nimbly respond to the evolving digital needs of the public and their workforces,” Adolf wrote in a commentary published Aug. 29 in Federal News Network.
He discussed how a product marketplace could enable a CoE to exhibit all products and provide the center with an opportunity to facilitate conversations on projects and build relationships with business programs and leaders.
“These partnerships keep a CoE aligned with business needs while advancing agency-wide modernization,” Adolf added.
The Appian executive noted that agencies planning to establish a CoE should have a robust governance framework in place that outlines the roles, standards and rules related to low-code development and delivery, prioritize resilience upfront and build a citizen developer workforce.
