Anduril Industries is setting its sights on the space domain with plans to launch its own fully integrated space systems by the end of 2025. Gokul Subramanian, senior vice president of space and engineering at Anduril, said in a blog post on Thursday that the company’s expansion to space builds upon its previous work on the U.S. Space Force’s Space Surveillance Network.
As part of the integrated space systems, Anduril is expanding the capabilities of its software Lattice to autonomously monitor and manage assets in orbit. Lattice is equipped with artificial intelligence and machine learning to process data from disparate and distributed sensors, feeds and systems. It is used across various sectors, including security and the military.
The defense technology provider will also design, manufacture and integrate mission payloads to deliver real-time data, autonomous satellite coordination and resilient communication capabilities to warfighters.
According to Subramanian, the 2025 mission will serve as a testbed to mature payloads. Aside from Anduril technology, the mission will also test third-party payloads. More information about mission partners will be announced in the coming months.
In 2023, the U.S. Space Force selected Anduril to provide a resilient mesh network to connect sensors, command and control systems, and data platforms at SSN sites across the nation.
