KBR will provide research and development support to the Naval Research Laboratory’s space science instruments and experimental payloads under a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract with a potential total value of nearly $40 million if all options are exercised.
Work on the contract, which has a base value of $7.6 million, will be done at the NRL’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., with expected completion in August 2025, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
DOD working capital funds amounting to $1.3 million from fiscal year 2024 will be obligated at the time of the award, without expiry at the fiscal year’s end.
The NRL received two offers on the contract, which was competitively procured through SAM .gov.
In May, KBR said it received an estimated $34 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for the NRL’s facility operations. Tasks on the recompete, cost-plus-fixed-fee single award include maintenance, security and retrofitting the NRL visitor’s center space for incoming research-oriented tenants.
