L3Harris Technologies showcased its new electronic warfare capability at a U.S. Indo Pacific Command-led biennial field training exercise featuring U.S. and allied forces from the region.

The defense contracting company said Thursday it demonstrated its Distributed Spectrum Collaboration and Operations, or DiSCO, capability at the Valiant Shield 2024 event.

DiSCO was able to share real-time radio frequency signal data between Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii and small form-factor EW payloads in both Hawaii and San Diego, California.

The cloud-connected electromagnetic spectrum operations architecture is designed to assist military forces in making quick decisions and adjustments in the field, helping them defend against complex threats.

The EW capability allows fusion and analysis of mission data in real time, enabling fast decision-making and reprogramming that aids in electromagnetic battle management and synchronization of non-kinetic effects across all domains. This is made possible by connecting sensors and shooters to computer and cross-domain data sources using a combination of edge nodes and cloud applications.

L3Harris President of Space and Airborne Systems Ed Zoiss, said DiSCO is intended to help “ensure tactical forces have the tools they need for spectrum superiority.”

“DISCO helps the warfighter to identify new threats through the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to rapidly reprogram EW systems at the edge and make more informed, faster decisions across a network of distributed platforms,” said Zoiss.

During the VS 2024 demo, L3Harris operators were also able to receive real-time information through the cloud and initiated over-the-air reprogramming actions from Hawaii and a remote company terminal in Clifton, New Jersey.
