General Dynamics‘ mission systems business will perform ship design agent and lifecycle sustainment services under a potential $92.6 million cost-plus-fixed-fee term contract from the U.S. Navy.
The contract has a $33.7 million initial value and provides for services in support of the Independence-class littoral combat ship combat system, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
General Dynamics Mission Systems will conduct 84 percent of contract work at its Pittsfield, Massachusetts location and the remaining 11 and 5 percent in San Diego, California, and Mobile, Alabama, respectively. The company is expected to wrap up work by March 2025.
The Navy will obligate $4.8 million from its fiscal 2024 other procurement funds at the time of award.
Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division, which serves as the contracting activity, did not hold a competitive procurement for the contract as there is only one service source that could satisfy agency requirements.
In June 2021, GDMS was awarded two contracts worth $30.5 million to maintain and modernize the Navy’s fleet of Independence-class LCS. Work for both contracts is slated to run until May 2026.
