Lockheed Martin released a video of a novel augmented reality training technology meant for integration with a TF-50 trainer jet simulator.

The AR technology was provided by Red 6, one of Lockheed’s venture capital investments, the parent company said Monday.

The milestone is part of the first stage of AR integration into the TF-50 pilot training program, which is accessible to the U.S. Air Force and Navy as well as selected foreign military customers. It features the Red 6 ATARS technology, which takes trainees to a virtual airborne environment within to beyond the aircraft’s visual range.

“Technology integration such as this ensures that with the TF-50, pilots have the right tools to enable faster, more efficient training for fourth and fifth generation fighter missions and beyond,” remarked OJ Sanchez, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin’s Integrated Fighter Group.
