Christine Halvorsen, a more than 20-year federal government veteran, has joined San Francisco-based cloud-based identity management platforms provider Okta as the company’s first chief technology officer for public sector.
In this capacity, she will help federal, state and local agency customers modernize their services to streamline processes and advance zero trust adoption to secure their information technology infrastructure in support of their missions, Okta said Wednesday.
Okta oversees nearly 400 million authentications and more than 24 million users across the public sector.
Halvorsen spent nearly two decades at the FBI, where she served as assistant director, chief technology officer and chief information security officer of the counterterrorism and criminal justice information services divisions. She also led teams focused on digital modernization and law enforcement efforts at the bureau.
Her industry experience included time holding artificial intelligence-focused leadership and public sector technology positions at Amazon Web Services. She is a member of the Forbes Technology Council and most recently served as managing director for risk and compliance, trust and safety and cybersecurity at Protiviti, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Okta also appointed tech industry leaders Eric Kelleher and Ed Daly as president of customer experience and communications and chief customer officer, respectively.
