AFRL Seeks Sources of Biomaterial & Bioprocess Technologies for Air Force Asset Sustainment Effort
Request for information

The Air Force Research Laboratory is planning a research and development project focused on techniques and processes that lead to the creation of biomaterials, bioprocesses and related technologies, and has issued a request for information for the effort.

These advanced technologies are envisioned to sustain or optimize Air Force assets, according to the Functional Responsive Experimentation for Systems and Humans RFI posted Friday on SAM.gov.

Companies are being sought that have capabilities or are interested in a number of key technologies, including biotechnology and biomaterials research, polymers and responsive materials research, computational materials and science engineering and metamaterials research and development.

The upcoming R&D effort will be part of a broad agency announcement issued in 2021 with a potential program value of over $275 million.

The biomaterials and polymers and specialty materials branches of the AFRL’s Materials and Manufacturing Directorate will handle the project.

Interested parties have until Dec. 22 to respond.
