The Department of State has approved Latvia’s request to buy six M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System launchers and related equipment from the U.S. government under a potential $220 million foreign military sales agreement.
Lockheed Martin will serve as the prime contractor in the FMS deal, which will enable Latvia to enhance its capability to address existing and future threats and improve interoperability with the U.S. and other allies, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday.
The transaction also includes M30A2 Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System alternative warhead pods with insensitive munitions propulsion systems, M31A2 GMLRS unitary high explosive pods with IMPS and M57 Army Tactical Missile System pods.
Latvia also requested reduced range practice rocket pods, ruggedized laptops, intercom systems to support the HIMARS launcher, training equipment, munitions, spares, support equipment and program and logistic support services.
The proposed sale will require the deployment of two U.S. government personnel and five contractor representatives to Latvia for a one-year period.
