The Department of State has approved a possible foreign military sale of 36 AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles to the government of Lithuania.
The transaction, which has a total estimated cost of $100 million, includes an AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM guidance section, common munitions built-in-test/reprogramming equipment, ADU-891/E adapter group computer test sets and AIM-120 spare control sections and containers, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Monday.
The proposed sale will be for use with the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System. It will support the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of Lithuania.
Lithuania’s capability to conduct self-defense and regional security missions should also improve while enhancing interoperability with the U.S. and other NATO members.
RTX company Raytheon will be the principal contractor.
