Poland has declared basic operational capability for the Northrop Grumman-manufactured Integrated Battle Command System that supports its WISLA medium-range air defense program.
Following the completion of a series of integration and testing, the milestone underscores that the IBCS has achieved initial combat capability and is moving forward to achieving initial operational capability, Northrop said Friday.
“This milestone is a major advancement in Poland’s air defense capability and their fielding of IBCS. With this next-generation integrated air and missile defense, Poland is prepared for today’s fight and the battlespace of the future,” said Rebecca Torzone, vice president and general manager of combat systems and mission readiness at Northrop.
In 2018, Poland became the first U.S. foreign ally to acquire IBCS as a centerpiece for its WISLA air and missile defense modernization initiative.
Poland’s 37th Air Defense Squadron made the BOC declaration three months after Northrop fulfilled Poland’s order for IBCS’ Integrated Fire Control Network relays.
