Plasan‘s U.S. subsidiary has secured a subcontract worth approximately $300 million from AM General to support the production of new Joint Light Tactical Vehicle A2 systems for domestic and international military sales customers.
The subcontract covers the provision of major subcomponents of the armored cab over five years, Plasan North America said Monday.
AM General took over production of the tactical wheeled vehicle from incumbent JLTV contractor Oshkosh Defense in February.
The U.S. Army selected AM General to produce 20,682 JLTV units and 9,883 JLTV trailers for the military and allied forces under a potential 10-year, $8.66 billion follow-on contract.
As part of the subcontract agreement, Israeli armor technology manufacturer Plasan plans to hire an additional 170 employees over the next 18 months to support production requirements.
The company will also invest in its manufacturing facilities to improve infrastructure and production capabilities.
